Born in Beijing. Yu Gao began his teaching career at Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology in 2000. He graduated from Beijing Academy of Crafts and Fine Arts in 1991 and from Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1996，majoring in sculpture. He completed his graduate studies at Department of Sculpture，Central Academy of Fine Arts. From 2005 to 2006，he is visiting scholar at School of Design，Central Academy of Fine Arts.
